Abstract
Se proporcionan un sistema, aparato y métodos para establecer y dar soporte a una llamada VOIP (Voz sobre Protocolo Internet) desde un dispositivo de cómputo/comunicación a otro. El sistema recibe una oferta de llamada desde la parte que realiza la llamada, la envía al receptor de la llamada e identifica múltiples entidades de relé candidato de parte para la retransmisión a sus comunicaciones de voz digitalizadas. Cada dispositivo enlaza uno o todos los relés y cualquiera o ambos de ellos seleccionan uno de los relés para usarlo en un modo de operación de relé de la llamada, cuando sea necesario. Uno o más de los relés informan a los dispositivos de sus direcciones externas de la red y cada dispositivo pasa sus direcciones (internas y externas) entre sí, a través del sistema. El dispositivo intenta establecer una conexión directa para conducir la llamada en un modo punto a punto, pero pueden cambiar dinámicamente entre los modos de punto a punto y de relé según sea necesario.
