Abstract
Se describe sistemas y métodos para detectar dispositivos de almacenamiento heredados que pueden reportar de manera falsa y/o incorrecta a sistemas huésped que tienen medios removibles. Dicho reporte falso o incorrecto puede hacer que el sistema huésped periódicamente sondee el dispositivo de almacenamiento para ver si el dispositivo está listo para procesamiento I/O. Dicho sondeo podría ser innecesario y representa un desperdicio de energía gastada por el sistema huésped. En una modalidad, el sistema de la presente puede implementar procedimientos que periódicamente sondean medios de almacenamiento y actualizan una base de datos. La base de datos podría ser una lista de dispositivos de almacenamiento indicando si verdaderamente tienen medios removibles o reportando de manera falsa que tienen medios removibles. En otra modalidad, el sistema de la presente puede aplicar algo de prueba heurística para determinar si un dispositivo de almacenamiento de esta forma indica de manera falsa medios removibles. En otra modalidad, el servicio de telemetría puede ser utilizado por un grupo de huéspedes para compartir datos con respecto a dichos dispositivos de almacenamiento.
