Abstract

The field of the present disclosure is related to the cell culture technology. The invention is related to a system and method for improving the culture conditions of animal cells for the study of metabolism and cell physiology, as well as for the production of recombinant proteins of commercial interest. The present invention discloses a cellular culture system and method in mini-bioreactors to perform synchronized cell cultures under controlled conditions, predetermined and with sufficient cell concentrations for detailed kinetic studies of the physiology and cellular metabolism and for the production of recombinant proteins by means of synchronized cell cultures. The invention consists of: a cell population separation system based on the density and cell size for generating a synchronized population; a cell injection system to minimize handling and cell damage; and two cell culture systems in mini-bioreactors implemented for performing cultures under controlled and predetermined co nditions. The scope of the present invention extends to the production of metabolism and cell physiology products as well as the selection and optimization of cell lines through this system and/or method.
