Abstract

The invention is applicable in the fields of: a) construction - containing excavations below the groundwater level, watertight basements, total or partial waterproofing after construction, wiring, ducts, visible finishes; b) geotechnics - draining the subsoil, pre consolidation, deep foundations, reducing liquefaction, seismometry; c) civil protection - flooding, confinement and washing contaminated soils, refilling aquifers, detecting contaminants, ventilating basements; d) supplying water - collecting, conducting and filtering. Two inventions are presented, namely: a. a sheet pile that is permeable or made of materials of different levels of permeability; b. a permeable underground screen that collects the underground or surface water, conducting same to an appropriate site by means of gravity. The advantages with respect to pumping wells and wick drains include a substantial increase in the discharge surface, a reduction of the average flow of water, a greater probability of interc epting permeable zones and tracks, simple operation, and the possibility to include instruments, equipment and ducts. The advantages with respect to supplying water in piping include a reduction in the time and costs for excavations and refilling, collecting rain water and surface run-offs. In addition, being prefabricated, the sheet piles can include ducts and wires, inclinometers, piezometers, accelerometers, basement ventilation.
