Abstract
Un sistema de radar de polarización dual está calibrado con base en mediciones de datos en tiempo real, tal como reflectividades horizontales y verticales medidas, ZH y Zv; en este aspecto, el sistema de radar analiza las mediciones de potencia reflejada para identificar cuáles mediciones están asociadas con reflexiones de un objeto esférico respectivo; al utilizar dichas mediciones, el sistema determina un valor de reflectividad diferencial del sistema, y combina dicho valor con las mediciones de potencia reflejadas para calibración; debido a que la calibración está basada en las mediciones de datos en tiempo real, el proceso de calibración puede correr simultáneamente con la recopilación de datos climáticos; por lo tanto, es innecesario suspender las actividades de monitoreo del clima fin de ejecutar la calibración, y la calibración se puede correr con tanta frecuencia como se desee sin interferir con dichas actividades de monitoreo del clima; además, el proceso de calibración es inmune a los eventos climáticos dentro del rango del sistema de radar.
