Abstract
Un sistema para cultivar plantas, incluyendo los métodos, aparatos, plantas y composiciones, para utilizar fosfito como un nutriente para soportar el crecimiento de una planta transgénica y como un agente de control para organismos indeseables, como malezas y/o algas, entre otros. En un método ejemplar, se aplica una cantidad de fosfito a un sustrato y/o al follaje encima del sustrato, para mejorar el crecimiento de una planta transgénica y/o para actuar como un agente de control de maleza que mata malezas y/o suprime directamente el crecimiento de malezas cerca de la planta transgénica. En otro método ejemplar, es probado el contenido de fosfato del suelo, y se selecciona y aplica una cantidad efectiva de fosfito para soportar el crecimiento de una planta transgénica y controlar malezas en base al contenido de fosfato. En otro método ejemplar más, es usado fosfito para controlar algas en un sistema hidropónico.
