Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for determining the direction of drilling of a horizontal oil well in a naturally fractured deposit, defining the optimum direction of horizontal navigation over the fracture in low-permeability carbonate deposits, which improves hydraulic conditions with a view to increasing oil production as compared with traditional drilling of wells directed horizontally, perpendicularly to the fractures. The object of the present invention is to determine the optimum direction for horizontal navigation of the well, taking an average of the path in the fracture in a straight line, drilling horizontally always in a position close to the top of the naturally fractured low-permeability carbonate rock, and to that end using high-resolution seismic mapping and geological models.
