Abstract

Un método para elevar el área de cubierta de una plataforma marina (por ejemplo una plataforma de perforación o producción de un pozo de petróleo y gas) utiliza un soporte de manga configurado especialmente para sostener las patas de la plataforma de tal forma que pueden cortarse. Una vez cortadas, los pilotos o gatos elevan la plataforma por encima de los cortes. El soporte de manga entonces se conecta (por ejemplo se suelda) a la pata de plataforma y se vuelve parte del soporte estructural de la plataforma. En una modalidad, se emplean dos mangas. En otra modalidad los gatos o pilotos elevan en dos etapas incluyendo una primera etapa en donde se eleva una manga y la otra manga no se eleva y una segunda etapa en donde ambas mangas se elevan conjuntamente.
