Abstract
La presente invención provee métodos mejorados y aparatos mejorados para eliminar, reducir, destruir y/o inhibir especies no deseadas de fluidos corporales, tales como microbios patógenos y células deterioradas o malignas en medios complejos como la sangre, el suero y otros fluidos corporales. En realizaciones preferidas, la presente invención proporciona un tratamiento de PDT antimicrobiana y aparatos que inactivan, reducen y/o destruyen en forma eficaz bacterias Gram (-) así como Gram (+) en fluidos corporales complejos. Las realizaciones de aparatos preferidas comprenden canales de guía y por lo menos una fuente de radiación electromagnética, dispuesta por separado o en secuencia. Preferentemente, el aparato láser o los paneles de LED se usan para suministrar la radiación electromagnética para activar el fotosensibilizador. La radiación electromagnética preferentemente se suministra con un ancho de pulso basado en los parámetros de tratamiento. Cuando se usa con la composición de fotosensibilizador preferida basada en Safranina O, la longitud de onda de la radiación láser preferida está en la gama de 500- 580nm. Además, la presente invención disminuye las respuestas inflamatorias adversas del huésped neutralizando la actividad biológica de fragmentos de microorganismos patógenos y reduciendo y/o eliminando fragmentos de microorganismos patógenos responsables de ella.
