Abstract

The invention relates to a device for heat-treating sheet metal strips (6), comprising at least one steel pipe unit (1), which has three pipes lying in a common axial plane parallel to the sheet metal strip (6), namely a middle pipe (2) that can be connected to a burner and two outer pipes (3) that are connected at both ends to the middle pipe (2) by means of pipe bends (4), and a bearing journal (9) on the side of the steel pipe unit opposite the burner, the bearing journal being connected to the two pipe bends (4) between the middle pipe (2) on the one side and the two outer pipes (3) on the other side. In order to consider the thermal expansion that occurs in the area of the pipe bends (4), the bearing journal (9) is arranged on a bridge (10) that bridges a spandrel (11) between the two pipe bends (4), the bridge having two sections (12) that extend on either side of the axis of the middle pipe (2) and that are angled at an acute angle from the axis of the middle pipe (2).
