Abstract
Se describen mallas quirúrgicas cubiertas con polímero biodegradable formadas a bolsas con dispositivos de manejo de ritmo cardiaco (CRMs) y otros dispositivos médicos implantables. Dichas mallas se forman a un receptáculo, por ejemplo, una bolsa u otra cubierta, capaz de recubrir, rodear y/o sostener el dispositivo de manejo de ritmo cardiaco u otro dispositivo médico implantable con el propósito de asegurarlo en su lugar, inhibir o reducir el crecimiento bacteriano, proporcionar alivio del dolor y/o inhibir la cicatrización o fibrosis en o alrededor del CRM u otro dispositivo médico implantable. Las modalidades preferidas incluyen bolsas de malla cubiertas con uno o más polímeros biodegradables que pueden actuar como un agente de refuerzo cubriendo los filamentos o fibras de la malla para temporalmente inmovilizar los puntos de contacto de esos filamentos o fibras y/o incrementar la rigidez de la malla por al menos 1.1 veces su rigidez original. Las bolsas de la invención también pueden proporcionar alivio de varias complicaciones después de operaciones, asociadas con su implantación, inserción o uso quirúrgico, y, opcionalmente, incluyen uno o más fármacos en la matriz de polímero del recubrimiento para proporcionar efectos profilácticos y/o aliviar los efectos laterales o complicaciones asociadas con la cirugía o implantación del CRM u otro dispositivo médico implantable.
