Abstract

Un elemento diferencial de secuencia negativa puede detectar una falla en un sistema de energía eléctrica al calcular una diferencial entre los valores de secuencia negativos derivados de una primera medición de fase-corriente y una segunda medición de fase-corriente. Se puede colocar un transformador entre la primera ubicación de medición de fase-corriente y la segunda ubicación de medición de fase-corriente. La primera medición de fase-corriente y la segunda medición de fase-corriente se pueden normalizar y se puede calcular a partir de la misma una corriente de secuencia negativa. Las corrientes de secuencia negativa se pueden utilizar para calcular una cantidad de operación la cual puede ser un valor absoluto de la suma de la primera y segunda corrientes de secuencias negativas y una cantidad limitante que comprende un máximo de la primera y segunda corrientes de secuencia negativas. La cantidad limitante se puede incrementar en un factor de pendiente. Se puede detectar una falla si la cantidad de operación excede la cantidad limitante aumentada y un umbral de corriente de captación.
