Abstract

The present invention refers to a process for removing copper present in cyanidation solutions in order to obtain precious metals using quaternary amine salts (halides) having a high molecular weight (300 g/mol) and with linear alkyl radicals in the structure thereof, which is useful for forming a solid with the copper-cyanide anions. The solid thus obtained is separated by conventional solid-liquid separation techniques. Once the solid is separated, the solution may be recycled to the cyanidation process, avoiding economical environmental and efficiency problems experienced in some precious metals extraction plants.
