Abstract
A description is given of a billboard havinga self-supporting, incombustible plate (1) which has a base layer for printing inks that cure under ultraviolet light. In order to obtain incombustible billboard, it is proposed that the plate (1) be produced from fibre cement and be provided with a directly applied acrylate coating (2), containing colour pigments if desired, as a base layer for acrylic-based printing inks.
Description
CARTRIDGE DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
TECHNICAL FIELD The invention relates to a billboard comprising a non-flammable self-supporting plate having a substrate layer for printing ink that hardens with ultraviolet light. STATE OF THE ART Conventional billboards have a self-supporting plate usually of a wood material in which the posters are glued. Billboards, however, should be classified as flammable and can not be used, therefore, in spaces having a fire safety class that prohibits the use of flammable installation objects. This does not change even when the self-supporting plate itself is not of a flammable material, for example metal or glass, because the printed sheet, stuck on the non-flammable sheet, together with the glue layer between the printed sheet and the non-flammable sheet represents a composite body that is not classified as non-flammable in the sense of fire protection classes. In addition, major billboards with metal or glass load plates are disadvantageous in terms of construction acoustics.
Representation of the invention The invention is based, therefore, on the objective of avoiding these disadvantages and designing a billboard of the type initially described that it is possible to comply without excessive investment the requirement of non-flammability without having to give up a rich printed image in details. The invention achieves its objective because the plate is produced from cement fiber and provided with an acrylate coating, optionally containing color pigments, as a substrate layer for acrylic-based printing inks. By using cement fiber as a raw material for the self-supporting plate, favorable conditions of construction acoustics are guaranteed, in particular in the case of fixing the plate to a wall, ventilated in the rear part. In addition, cement fiber boards are resistant to moisture, which is particularly important for the placement of billboards in wet spaces, such as, in general, public parking lots. In order not to expose the non-flammability of a billboard of such self-supporting cement fiber board due to a printed, glued sheet of plastic or paper, such a sheet is dispensed with. But because it is not possible to print directly on the cement fiber sheets due to the insufficient adherence of the printing inks to the cement material, the visible face of the plate is provided with an acrylate coating that serves as a layer of substrate for printing inks. The circumstance that uses printing inks that harden under ultraviolet light based on acrylic represents a durable, wear resistant union without additional binder, which is an essential condition for the classification of such billboard as non-flammable, although neither the coating with acrylate or acrylic-based printing inks themselves meet the fire criteria of non-flammability. It is possible, however, to restrict the total thickness of the coating with acrylate and printing inks, thanks to the selection made of the substrate layer in reciprocal action with the printing inks adjusted to it, which allows the classification of the composite body of cement fibers and coating as non-flammable in the sense of a kind of fire protection. Because the cement fiber carrier plate is provided with an acrylate coating, an advantageous substrate is produced for printing with acrylic colors which can be sprayed directly onto the cleaned acrylate coating and hardened with ultraviolet light, namely with a large fidelity of detail of the printed image that can have a quality of image with realism of photography. Eventually it is necessary to mix the acrylate coating with color pigments in order to preset a given color of substrate. In order to be able to guarantee the classification of the billboard as non-flammable in the sense of fire protection classes, care must be taken that the total amount of the acrylate coating, referring to the unit per area of the plate, and of the printing inks applied in the acrylate coating, is less than the maximum allowable amount for the non-flammability of the billboard. Having layer thicknesses of 0. lmm in each case of acrylate coating and printing inks it is possible, without problem, to fulfill these conditions. Brief description of the Figure In figure 1 the inventive object is represented by way of example and, namely, a section of an inventive billboard is shown in a cross section. Route of embodiment of the invention The billboard according to the example of embodiment has a self-supporting plate 1 of cement fiber that is provided, on its visible side with a covering 2 of coating 3 which, however, must be realized in such a way that it does not the non-flammability of the composite body in the sense of fire protection classes is put at risk. On the acrylate coating 2 which is optionally mixed with color pigments, it can be printed directly and, with the aid of a printer which sprays the printing inks according to the digital control of the printer on the coating 2 of the printer. acrylate as substrate layer. The color layer 4 of acrylic inks, sprayed onto the acrylate coating 2, is hardened during the printing process with the aid of ultraviolet light emitters, thereby producing a durable bond between the color layer 4 and the coating 2 of acrylate without the need to use additional binders. The total thickness of the acrylate coating 2 and the acrylic-based color layer 4 can be kept thin enough to classify the composite body as non-flammable, although neither the acrylate coating 2 nor the color layer 4 can be classified, per se, as non-flammable. The reduced layer thickness of the acrylate coating 2 and of the color layer 4 hardly affects, furthermore, the advantageous conditions of construction acoustics in the use of billboards as well, in particular when these large-area plates are fixed in the walls with ventilation in the back. Thanks to the reduced thickness of the coating and the moisture resistance of the billboard, it is also possible to exclude the risk of tension cracks and detachments, for example, by stresses due to temperature or deformations.
Claims (2)
1. Billboard having a non-flammable self-supporting plate that has a substrate layer for printing inks that harden under ultraviolet light, characterized in that the plate is produced from cement fiber and provided with an acrylate coating, optionally containing color pigments, applied directly as substrate layer for acrylic based printing inks. Billboard according to claim 1, characterized in that the total amount of the acrylate coating referred to the unit per plate area and the printing inks applied on the acrylate coating is less than the maximum allowable amount for the non-flammability of the billboard.
