Abstract

Esta invencion se refiere a la identificacion y al uso de polimorfismos de un solo nucleotido y haplotipos en el gen Niemann Pick C1- tipo 1 (NPC1L1); en particular, los metodos se proveen para correlacionar los polimorfismos NPC1L1 y haplotipos con la capacidad de respuesta de un compuesto farmaceuticamente activo administrado a un humano; la invencion tambien se refiere a un metodo para calcular la capacidad de respuesta de un compuesto farmaceuticamente activo administrado a un humano cuyo metodo comprende determinar al menos un polimorfismo en el gen NPC1L1; los metodos se basan en determinar los polimorfismos en el gen NPC1L1 y correlacionar la capacidad de respuesta de un compuesto farmaceuticamente activo en el humano por medio de la referencia a uno o mas polimorfismos en NPC1L1; demas la invencion se refiere a acidos nucleicos aislados que comprenden dentro de su secuencia los polimorfismos como aqui se definen, a los cebadores acidos y sondas oligonucleotidas capaces de hibridizar a dichos acidos nucleicos y a un juego de diagnostico que comprende uno o mas de dichos cebadores y sondas para detectar un polimorfismo en el gen NPC1L1.
