Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir continuamente productos metálicos tubulares colados de tramos largos, caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de formar un campo electromagnético alterno de levitación, alargado, que se desplaza hacia arriba dentro del interior de un recipiente de colado circundante, de forma anular, y proveer un componente de campo electromagnético de contención, coextensivo, dirigido a ángulo recto con respecto al campo de levitación que se desplaza hacia arriba; formar por lo menos un segundo componente de campo electromagnético de contención, que actúa en una dirección opuesta al primer campo electromagnético de contención mencionado, dentro del centro del recipiente de colado, de forma anular; introducir el metal líquido dentro de la porción inferior del recipiente de colado de forma anular y los campos, para formar una columna tubular de metal líquido; establecer el valor del campo electromagnético de levitación, que actúa sobre la columna tubular de metal líquido, para reducir la presión hidrostática de la columna a un mínimo, al mismo tiempo que se mantiene una relación dimensional predeterminada entre las superficies externa e interna de la columna tubular de metal líquido, y las superficies circundantes internas, opuestas, del recipiente de colado de forma anular; mantener el valor de los campos electromagnéticos de manera que la dimensión de sección transversal de la columna tubular de metal líquido sea suficientemente grande para producir contacto sin presión, pero evite la formación de un claro sustancial entre las superficies interna y externa de la columna tubular de metal líquido y las superficies circundantes interiores, opuestas, del recipiente de colado de forma anular, efectuando de esa manera contacto sin presión y la máxima transferencia de calor obtenible entre la columna tubular de metal líquido y el recipiente de colado, al mismo tiempo que se reduce simultáneamente a un mínimo las fuerzas de gravedad, de fricción y de adhesión; mover hacia arriba la columna tubular de metal líquido a través del recipiente de colado; solidificar el metal mientras se está moviendo hacia arriba, a través del recipiente y de dichos campos, y retirar el producto metálico tubular solidificado, desde la porción superior del recipiente de colado.
