Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para mejorar la separabilidad del agua de los lodos de desecho concentrados, los cuales tienen un contenido substancial de una estructura celular que retiene agua, que resulta de la acción microbiológica y el cual tiene un contenido de sólidos más grande que aproximadamente 15 por ciento en peso, el proceso está caracterizado porque comprende someter el lodo de desecho concentrado a una temperatura de tratamiento en exceso de aproximadamente 126.67 grados C (260 grados F) durante un período suficiente de tal modo que el contenido de humedad del lodo pueda ser reducida hasta menos que aproximadamente el 70 por ciento en peso por filtración.
