Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para recuperar petróleo, de un depósito subterráneo que contiene petróleo, que comprende inyectar una solución acuosa de polímero en el área de dicho depósito, a través de por lo menos un pozo de entrada, para provocar que dicho petróleo fluya desde dicha área para recolectarse a través de por lo menos un pozo de salida, la mejora que comprende mantener y controlar la viscosidad de dicha solución, mediante el empleo, en ausencia substancial de oxígeno, de un copolímero soluble en agua que contiene de aproximadamente 30 a 70 por ciento molar de ácido 2-acrilamido.2.metilpropansulfónico, o una sal del mismo, y de aproximadamente 70 a 30 por ciento molar de un monómero acrílico, siendo la temperatura del depósito que contiene petróleo de por lo menos 60 grados C.
