Abstract

The invention relates to interferometry and can be used in environment-tracking systems for detection of petroleum product-contamination of water surfaces.The method, according to the invention, comprises the illumination with optical radiation causing photoluminescence of the object under study, which is on the water surface, from a remote distance by simultaneously recording a series of images of the photoluminescence region of the object with a digital camera through a system of narrow-band interference filters. Upon digital image processing, the photoluminescence signal caused by optical radiation is separated from the total luminous background reflected from the object, and the film of petroleum products is identified by comparing the obtained photoluminescence spectrum of the object under study with the standard photoluminescence spectrum of petroleum products.
