Description
The invention relates to agriculture, namely to a process for treating common winter wheat seeds before sowing.
A process for treating common winter wheat seeds before sowing is known, which includes soaking the seeds in a 2% aqueous solution of Na-carboxymethylcellulose and moldstim at a dose of 0.1…1.0 g/ton [1].
The disadvantage of this process is that treating wheat grains with a 2% aqueous solution of Na-carboxymethylcellulose increases seed adhesion, requires time for product homogenization and additional expenses.
The problem solved by this invention consists in stimulating the growth of roots and young seedlings of common winter wheat, which subsequently leads to enhanced development of the root system, better rooting of plants in the post-germination period and increased resistance of winter wheat to low temperatures and unfavorable conditions.
The process, according to the invention, includes soaking wheat seeds for 24 hours in an aqueous solution containing 0.0001…0.01% glycosides, obtained from Scrophularia nodosa L. plants by extraction with 70% methanol at a temperature of 45…50°C.
The result is the growth of roots and seedlings, which subsequently favors good rooting of plants before wintering and allows for increased resistance of common winter wheat to unfavorable conditions.
The method of obtaining the sum of scrofularioside glycosides consists of multiple extraction, with 70% methyl alcohol at a temperature of 45…50°C, of shredded plants of Scrophularia nodosa L. (family Scrophulariaceae), which is one of the representatives of the spontaneous flora of the Republic of Moldova.
The extract obtained is concentrated in vacuo to an aqueous residue, after which it is repeatedly processed with chloroform, then with butyl alcohol. The butanol extract is concentrated in vacuo to a dry residue, after which it is dissolved in a small amount of methyl alcohol. The sum of scrofulariosides is precipitated from methyl alcohol with the help of acetone, the precipitate is filtered and dried.
Next, the sediment is subjected to gel filtration on a Sephadex column of type G-25 and G-50, using distilled water as eluent.
The isolation of scrofulariosides was controlled by means of thin layer chromatography on silica gel, developing the chromatograms using Stahli's reagent.
Exemplu de realizare a invenţiei Example of embodiment of the invention
The research was carried out in laboratory conditions. The seeds of the common winter wheat variety Moldova 11 served as the object of study. The wheat seeds were treated with an aqueous solution of glycosides obtained from Scrophularia nodosa L plants (scrofulariosides) in concentrations of 0.01, 0.005, 0.001 and 0.0001% and were subjected to germination in a climatic chamber at a temperature of 20°C (invention). For comparison, the grains from this wheat seed lot were treated with an aqueous solution of moldstim in the same concentrations (the closest solution). The grains soaked in water served as the control.
After 7 days of exposure, the germinated grains were evaluated, measuring the length of the roots and seedlings (see table).

As the data in the table show, the treatment of wheat seeds with aqueous solutions of scrofulariosides and moldstim in all the mentioned concentrations has a positive effect on such important elements for the viability of the crop as the length of roots and seedlings. The highest values of the length of roots and seedlings were established in the variant in which wheat grains were treated with a 0.005% solution of scrofulariosides.
Increasing the length of the root and seedling ensures good rooting of the plant before wintering, thus increasing the resistance of winter wheat to low temperatures and unfavorable conditions.
