Abstract

The invention relates to the construction and can be used in the construction of water towers in seismically active areas.The process for damping the seismic oscillations of the water tower consists in the formation inside the water tank of small local volumes oriented in vertical direction, communicating with each other, by forming a grillage of intersecting vertically oriented elements.The water tower contains a water tank (1) placed on a support (2), installed on a foundation (3). Inside the tank (1) is mounted a grillage (4) of intersecting vertically oriented elements. The grillage (4) may be made on the entire height of the tank (1) or in the form of a three-dimensional partition with positive buoyancy and installed inside the tank (1) horizontally, with the possibility of vertical movement. The grillage (4) in the form of floating partition can be mounted in vertical guides (5), fixed inside the tank (1).The result is to increase the earthquake resistance of the water tower at the expense of horizontal and bending loads on the support and foundation.
