Abstract
The variety of walnut-tree (Juglans regia L.) Kalaraşskii is obtained by individual selection from the seeds from the district of Kalaraşi, destinated for the cultivation of walnut-trees in all the fruit-growing areas of the Republic of Moldova.This is a well-grown tree, with a high-rounded, not very thick croun. the skeletal branches are strong, long, well-jointed with the leader. The trees blossom in middle timing. The variety is protogene with big fruits from 15 to 19 g, similar in size, egg-shaped. The junction of valves forms well-jointed ribs. The nutshell is of a medium thickness, strong, slightly grooved, bright, straw-coloured. The kernel is big, oily and constitutes almost 50% of the weight of the walnut, may be easily detached from the nutshell.
