Abstract

The invention relates to an original reconfigurable four-port microstrip crossover based on diodes. This crossover features an original miniature design and offers flexibility and reconfigurability with an ultra-wide bandwidth of approximately 8 GHz (operating from 1 Hz to 8 GHz). This diode-based crossbar solves a critical problem observed in microstrip technology printed circuits. Thanks to its reconfigurability and surprising results, it can operate in microwave bands (ISM, L, S, and C bands, etc.) as a distributor and electrical power controller through the desired port(s) by switching its diodes. The proposed crossover will replace T-type power dividers, Wilkinson dividers, and 90° and 180° couplers of the 0dB, 3dB, 6dB, and 9dB types. The invented device can be used to power microwave devices such as amplifiers, mixers, filters, antennas (including array, MIMO, and multi-beam antennas) in order to reconfigure them and widen their bandwidth by switching its diodes. It can also be applied to beamforming circuits and Butler matrices.
