Abstract
The invention relates to a metamaterial cell-based antenna for 6G applications in the sub-terahertz band; the antenna comprises a dielectric substrate which is provided with a first side surface and a second side surface which are opposite to each other; the microstrip line, the patch and the metamaterial cells are arranged on the first side surface; the ground plane is arranged on the second side surface; the substrate-integrated waveguide is synthesized by putting two rows of metal vias in the substrate. The metamaterial cells were added to the antenna which was printed on a substrate-integrated waveguide to improve its performance with respect to critical parameters such as gain and bandwidth as well as axial ratio; these metamaterial cells were placed between two waveports, one along the negative z-axis and the other along the positive z-axis; The said cells have been developed with refractive indices close to zero and negative permeability. The designed antenna has interesting advantages such as: a wide coverage band and circular polarization. These excellent performances make this antenna very promising for 6G applications in the sub-terahertz band.
