A switched reluctance machine is proposed which can be used as a generator for wind turbines and as electric motor for hybrid electric vehicle. The machine contains a stator 1 with teeth 2. In a half-open stator slots three-phase concentrated winding coils 3 of the stator are located. The machine contains a rotor with poles 4 which are made as magnetically mutually unattached segments which is placed on a non-magnetic sleeve 5. The width of the teeth of the rotor is as twice larger as the stator teeth and the width of the rotor slot is equal to the stator tooth width. Homopolar DC impulses are sequentially supplied to the adjacent coils of two of the three phases with back-to-back connection of these coils in each phase of the armature winding.
