Abstract

The present invention pertains to field of electric capacitance methods of nondestructive testing, and it can be used for quantitative evaluation of moisture content in inhomogeneous and structurally instable products from polymer porous materials. The objective of the invention is to increase the accuracy in testing of structurally instable polymer porous materials. The proposed method lies in measuring of electric capacitance C of testing material under the two frequencies f1 and f2 of external electric field and in determination of moisture content by the ratio of measured values of capacitances (C1 and C2), using calibration curves of material C ~ f. The operating frequencies are selected over the range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, but their ratio is set to value over the range 300 - 400. A block diagram of device for determination of moisture content of material is presented in Fig.1 The device representing an example of device for implementation of the method consists of voltage generators (1) and (2) producing sinusoidal measuring signals hold on the frequencies f1 and f2 (f1 is not equal to f2), summer (3), instrument capacitor (4) with testing material (5) placed between the capacitor's plates, filters (6 and 7), measuring channels (8 and 9), computing device (10) and output indicator (11) of moisture content of material.
