Abstract

제1도는 본 발명의 하나의 실시예에 따라 도킹 스테이션을 노트북 컴퓨터 사용자가 획득하여 사용하는 몇가지 이유를 설명하는 블럭도, 제2도는 본 발명의 멀티컨피그러블 도킹 스테이션의 하드 도크 도킹 실시예와 결합 또는 “도킹”할 수 있는 노트북 컴퓨터(10)의 일예의 블럭도, 제3도는 본 발명의 하나인 실시예에 따라, 제2도의 노트북 컴퓨터(10)가 도킹할 수 있는 멀티컨피그러블 도킹 스테이션의 블럭도.

Claims (20)

  1. 사용자 입력용 설비; 출력용 설비; 상기 사용자 입력 및 상기 출력에 결합된 마이크로프로세서; 상기 마이크로프로세서에 결합되어, 도킹 스테이션과 휴대용 컴퓨터 사이의 도킹을 용이하게 하는 인터페이스; 및 상기 마이크로프로세서에 결합되어, 상기 도킹 스테이션이 독립형일 때 상기 마이크로프로세서의 제어하에 있고, 상기 휴대용 컴퓨터가 상기 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션에 도킹될 때 상기 휴대용 컴퓨터의 중앙 처리 장치의 제어하에 있을 수 있는 도킹 스테이션 리소스를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 사용자 입력은 키보드에 결합되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 출력은 표시 장치에 결합되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 사용자 입력은 키보드에 결합되고, 상기 출력은 표시 장치에 결합되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션은 적어도 프로그램 명령을 저장하는 메모리를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션은 상기 마이크로프로세서에 결합된 코어 로직을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인터페이스는 상기 휴대용 컴퓨터의 대응하는 전기적 커넥터에 직접 접속가능한 전기적 커넥터인 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인터페이스는 무선 주파수“RF”통신을 거쳐 도킹을 용이하게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인터페이스는 1394 고성능 시리얼 버스를 거쳐 도킹을 용이하게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인터페이스는 카드 버스 인터페이스를 거쳐 도킹을 용이하게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  11. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인터페이스는 두개 이상의 상이한 종류의 도킹 인터페이스 군의 하나의 인터페이스를 거쳐 도킹을 용이하게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  12. 제1항에 있어서, PCI 버스는 상기 마이크로프로세서를 상기 인터페이스에 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  13. 제1항에 있어서, PCI 버스는 상기 마이크로프로세서를 브리지에 결합하고, 상기 브리지는 상기 인터페이스에 결합되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  14. 제1항에 있어서, MUX는 상기 마이크로프로세서를 PCI 버스에 결합하고, 브리지는 상기 인터페이스를 상기 PCI 버스에 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  15. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 중앙 처리 장치는 상기 PCI 버스에 접속된 시스템 카드 상에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  16. 제14항에 있어서, 상기 MUX 및 상기 중앙 처리 장치는 상기 PCI 버스에 접속된 시스템 카드 상에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  17. 제14항에 있어서, 상기 중앙 처리 장치는 상기 MUX에 접속된 시스템 카드 상에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  18. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 도킹 스테이션 리소스는 상기 PCI 버스에 결합가능한 카드 상에서 입수가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
  19. 사용자 입력용 설비; 출력용 설비; 상기 사용자 입력 및 상기 출력에 결합된 마이크로프로세서; 상기 마이크로프로세서에 결합되어, 도킹 스테이션과 휴대용 컴퓨터 사이의 도킹을 용이하게 하는 인터페이스; 및 상기 마이크로프로세서에 결합되어, 상기 도킹 스테이션이 독립형일 때 상기 마이크로프로세서의 제어하에 있는 도킹 스테이션 리소스를 포함하며, 상기 도킹 스테이션은 상기 휴대용 컴퓨터가 상기 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션에 도킹될 때 상기 휴대용 컴퓨터 내의 리소스의 제어를 취할 수 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 시스템.
  20. 휴대용 컴퓨터와 도킹하기 전에 도킹 스테이션 리소스의 제어를 갖는 독립형 컴퓨터이고, 도킹 스테이션 리소스를 도킹된 휴대용 컴퓨터의 제어하에 둘 수 있으며, 휴대용 컴퓨터가 상기 도킹 스테이션에서 언도킹할 때 독립형으로 복귀하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 도킹 스테이션.
