Abstract

The invention relates to (2S,3aS,7aS)-2-(hydroxymethyl)octahydroindol, process for preparing thereof and the synthetic method of optical active (S)-secondary alcohol using only a catalytic amount of reduce chiral compound as a auxiliary agent to reduce stereoselectively. (S)-indolin-2-carboxylic acid is converted into (S)-indolin-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester using thionyl chloride and ethanol, which is reduced by white metal-platinum oxide to produce (2S,3aS,7aS)-octahydroindol-2-carboxylic ethyl ester, which is reduced by lithium aluminium hydride to form (2S,3aS,7aS)-2-(hydroxymethyl)octahydroindol.
