본 발명은 거대구획블럭(16×16)과 소구획블럭(8×16)을 이용하여 움직임 예측을 효율적으로 수행하는 움직임 예측장치에관한 것으로, 이를 해결하기 위하여, 거대구획블럭을 근거로 움직임을 예측하고, 이 예측된 프레임과 현프레임간의 신호대 잡음비를 구하는 제1 움직임 예측수단과, 이전프레임을 저장하는 프레임 메모리를 구비한 영상 부호화 장치에 있어서:소구획블럭을 근거로 움직임을 예측하고, 이 예측된 프레임과 현프레임간의 신호대 잡음비를 구하는 제2 움직임 예측수단과, 제1,2 움직임 예측수단의 신호대 잡음비에 의거하여 보상된 움직임 변위를 선택적으로 제공하는 비교선택수단을 구비함으로써, 움직임이 너무 커서 좋은 보상이 안되는 경우에는 더 많은 압축을 할 수 있는 장점이 있다.The present invention relates to a motion prediction device that efficiently performs motion prediction using a large block block (16 × 16) and a small block block (8 × 16).
