Abstract

본 발명은 비디오디스크플레이어(VDP) 에서 고밀도로 압축된 영상신호를 기록하거나 재생할 때 가변비트레이트 방식으로 코딩하는 기술에 관한 것으로, 일반적인 영상정보의 코딩방법에 있어서는 디스크면적으로 주어지는 저장 가능한 데이타의 총량과 디코딩하고자 하는 화상의 재생시간동안 일정한 화질을 얻기 위해 2스텝코딩방법을 사용하게 되므로 엔코딩을 수행하기 위해서는 두번의 코딩과정을 필요로하게 되고, 이로인하여 실시간으로 코딩을 할 수 없게 되는 결함이 있었는 바, 본 발명은 이를 해결하기 위하여, 발생된 데이타량을 근거로 하여 향후 코딩할 화상의 양자화 스텝 크기를 결정하는 한편, 초과 또는 부족한 데이타에 대해 남은 시간동안 평균적으로 보상할 양자화스텝 크기 세밀도와 액티비티의 기울기를 결정화하도록 하였다.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1.
