본 발명은 하나의 실외기를 이용하여 여러방을 동시냉방, 동시난방 또는 동시냉ㆍ난방시키는 공기조화기에 있어서, 상기 공기조화기의 난방운전시에 실외기에 착상된 성에를 제거하도록 제상운전을 수행하는 공기조화기의 제상장치 및 그 제어방법에 관한 것으로써, 공기조화기의 난방운전시에 변화하는 실외열교환기의 배관온도를 감지하는 실외배관온도감지수단과, 상기 실외배관온도감지수단에 의해 감지된 실외배관온도에 따라 실외기의 성에착상여부를 판단하여 제상운전을 제어하는 제어수단과, 상기 제어수단의 제어에 의한 제상운전시에 변화하는 실외온도를 감지하는 실외온도감지수단과, 상기 실외온도감지수단에 의해 감지된 실외온도에 따라 산출된 제상시간동안 제상운전을 수행하도록 압축기를 구동제어하는 압축기구동수단과, 상기 압축기구동수단에 의한 압축기 구동시에 냉매가 순환하는 유로를 변경하도록 사방밸브를 구동제어하는 사방밸브구동수단과, 상기 압축기구동수단에 의한 압축기 구동시에 냉매가 순환하는 유로를 순환하는 유로를 개폐하도록 솔레이노이드밸브를 구동제어하는 솔레노이드밸브구동수단으로 이루어진 것을 특징으로 한다.The present invention provides an air conditioner that simultaneously cools, simultaneously heats, or simultaneously cools and heats several rooms using a single outdoor unit, and performs defrosting operation to remove frost formed on the outdoor unit during heating operation of the air conditioner.
