The present invention relates to an optical disc drive voice coil motor, and more particularly, to an optical disc drive voice coil motor having both a disc head drive function and a disc head speed sensing function.

Computer memory devices randomly access the heads to read and write data, and voice coil motors (VCMs) are generally used as devices for driving the heads.

In addition, a separate speed sensor or position sensor device is required for precise position control.

That is, an optical disk drive (ODD) is tracking and focusing to fine-tune the objective lens 21 in order to read and write data from the media with the light scanned through the objective lens 21. There is a (Focusing) servo, and there is a coarse seek system that drives the entire head including the objective lens 21, the actuator 22, and the entire optical path.

This coarse seek system is performed with a voice coil motor. For accurate position control, a sensor for detecting the head position is required.

As shown in Figs. 1 (a), (b) and 2 (a) and (b), the driving and position detection of the head 4 has been conventionally performed by installing separate devices. That is, the driving voice bean motor 24 in which the coil is operated in accordance with the principle of the motor in FIG. 1 is driven by the speed sensing coil 25 while driving the head 4 on the guide rail 6. As a result, a voltage proportional to the speed of the coil is generated to detect the speed of the head 4.

The problem of FIG. 1 is that one side is used for speed sensing, so that not enough thrust can be obtained and the movement of the head 4 becomes unstable.

In FIG. 2, the head position is sensed at regular intervals while the head is driven by the driving voice coil motors disposed on both sides, and the linear scale 23 attached to the head and both sides thereof are attached. They are arranged by detecting the relative ranges between them by the light source (LED) 28 and the light receiving unit (PD: Photo Detector) 29 which are disposed and fixed to the fixed part.

The problem of the optical disk drive voice coil motor shown in FIG. 2 is that the head motion is stabilized, but an additional cost is generated because a linear assembly and an auxiliary circuit are required.

In order to solve the problems described above, the present proposal is made by winding a speed sensing coil in a separate layer together with a driving coil in a voice coil motor to drive and sense a motor for position control of a head. The object of the present invention is to provide a voice coil motor for driving an optical disc.

Hereinafter, the construction and the effect of the present invention based on the illustrated drawings will be described in detail.

In this proposal, in the voice coil motor for driving an optical disk, the speed sensing coil 2 and the driving coil 3 are wound together on the bobbin 1 so that the disk head 4 has both a driving function and a speed sensing function. Voice coil motor for optical disc drive.

In this paper, as shown in FIG. 3, the coil is double-curved, the X direction is the direction of movement of the coil, the range of motion is within the magnet length, and the Z direction is the direction of the magnetic lines.

Therefore, in order to obtain the movement in the X direction, the current must flow in the y direction within the void, so that the winding direction of the coil becomes the y direction. The driving coil 3 and the speed sensing coil 2 are wound by different layers on one bobbin 1.

The purpose of the driving coil 3 is to drive the current while the speed sensing coil 2 is for sensing the speed of the head being driven. Therefore, a current drive circuit is operated at both ends of the driving coil 3 to produce a desired thrust, and thus the speed of the moving head is estimated by measuring the voltage at both ends of the speed detecting coil 2.

In addition, the voice coil motor for optical disc driving according to the present invention has a longer air gap length (d) by adding a speed sensing coil (2) than the conventional voice coil motor. Since the number of turns is minimal, the effect is not large.

As shown in FIG. 4, the head can move stably on the guide rail 6, as shown in FIG. No other sensor is needed.

On the other hand, the driving coil generates thrust in proportion to the current input according to the principle of the motor, so that the coil and the head move together. In this case, the speed sensing coil has the principle of a generator, which is the inverse function of the motor. The current generated in the coil generates a voltage proportional to the speed of the coil and the head.

In this way, this paper can wind the driving coil and the speed sensing coil together in the bobbin to perform the drive function and the speed sensing function of the disk head simultaneously with one voice coil motor. Since the coil motor is used to drive all the heads, the head movement can be stabilized, and if the head speed is integrated, the head's moving distance is calculated, so if the integrator is installed separately, the head displacement can be detected. In principle, the driving coil becomes the primary coil and the sensing coil becomes the secondary coil, so mutual induction occurs between the coils.

As a result, the electrical time constant of the driving coil is reduced, and the rise time of the current applied to the driving coil is shortened, thereby improving the red operating time.
