Abstract

The apparatus measures the thickness of the food melt in a thawing chamber in the refrigerator by using a plurality of optical sensors. The apparatus comprises: an infrared heater(122) installed on an upper part of the thawing chamber(125); a bottom heater(128) installed at the lower base of a bowl(127) including the frozen food(126); a temperature sensor(129) installed around the bottom heater(128); photodiodes(PD1,PD2) installed on one wall of the thawing chamber(125); phototransistors(PT1,PT2) installed on the wall opposite to the wall having the photodiodes(PD1,PD2); a CPU varying the drive time of a heater driver according to the measured thickness of the frozen food.
