The camcoder having an eye contact sensing function comprises a camera unit for outputting pictured object as an image signal according to a control signal; a video cassette recorder for recording the image signal at a recording medium and reproducing the image signal; a view finder for displaying the image signal recorded and reproduced at the video cassette recorder; a plurality of switches for selecting a plurality of driving modes like a recording mode and a recording standby mode; an eye contact sensing unit for sensing the eye contact state of a user and outputting an eye contact sensing signal; and a control unit for outputting a control signal, driving the eye contact sensing unit at a recording mode and changing the recording mode into the recording standby mode if a user is not eye-contacted to the view finder.
