Abstract

본 발명은 일정 영역에 데이타 저장을 허용하는 복수개의 구획 영역으로 자기 테이프 길이를 포맷하는 방법과, 시스템 죤의 공간과 수를 입력하도록 주 컴퓨터 시스템에 자극을 가하는 기억 장치의 제어 프로그램과 자기 테이프상에 포맷된 구획의 수와 길이에 의해 복수개의 이격된 시스템 죤을 자기 테이프상에 포맷하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 프로그램은 구획을 자기 테이프상에 위치시키기 위한 다수의 옵션중 하나를 선택하도록 주 컴퓨터 시스템에 또한 자극을 가한다.

제1도는 볼륨 포맷을 위한 종래 기술 방법의 다이아그램, 제2도는 자기 테이프상에 시스템 죤 포맷의 다이아그램, 제3도는 자기 테이프상에 한 구획의 포맷의 다이아그램.

Claims (8)

  1. 자기 테이프 볼륨 포맷 방법에 있어서, 포맷 명령에 응답하여 자기 테이프상에 복수개의 시스템 죤을 이격관계로 포맷하기 위한 단계와, 포맷 명령에 응답하여 자기 테이프상에 데이타 저장을 위해 이격된 시스템 죤 사이에 포맷된 복수개의 구획을 포맷하기 위한 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 복수개의 시스템 죤 사이의 공간을 설정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 테이프상에 포맷될 구획의 수를 식별하는 단계와, 포맷된 구획의 길이를 설정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 이용가능한 복수개의 테이프 포맷 옵션중 하나를 선택하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 구획 포맷 단계는, 시스템 죤이 구획내에서 불연속성을 일으킬때 결정하는 단계와, 구획이 시스템 죤 주위에 또는 시스템 죤의 테이프 종료 측면상에 포맷된다면 결정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 최종 구획과 자기 테이프의 종료 사이의 시스템 죤을 포맷하기 위한 테이프의 이용가능성을 결정하는 단계 및, 테이프가 이용가능하다면 시스템 죤을 자기 테이프상에 포맷하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 최종 구획과 자기 테이프의 종료 사이의 구획을 포맷하기 위한 테이프의 이용가능성을 결정하는 단계 및, 최종 구획과 테이프 매체의 물리적 종료 사이의 영역을 포맷하는지를 결정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  8. 제6항에 있어서, 최종 구획 사이에서 테이프의 영역을 포맷하는지를 결정하는 단계는 최종 구획을 위한 테이프 포맷을 식별하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
