Claims (14)

A composition comprising a working liquid in contact with a ferrous metal and an anticorrosion effective amount of at least one compound of formula (I) or a derivative thereof, as well as salts thereof. Wherein R ¹ , R ² , R ³ are independently hydrogen, C ₁ -C ₁₅ straight or branched alkyl residues, C ₅ -C ₁₂ aryl residues or C ₇ -C ₁₂ aralkyl residues, R ⁴ and R ⁵ is independently hydrogen, 2-hydroxyethyl or 2-hydroxypropyl group, provided that a) R ⁴ and R ⁵ are not simultaneously hydrogen and b) each of R ⁴ and R ⁵ is —CH ₂ —CH ₂ — When OH, R ¹ and R ² are not toil at the same time, R ³ is not a pentyl moiety, and c) no polyalkylene phenol or polycarboxylic ester co-additive is present.
