The upper portion forming a continuous upper flexible surface portion extending longitudinally between the front and rear portions and airflow channels for introducing air from the front anterior portion to the anterior portion to expand the canopy into the airfoil form. A ram air-expandable canopy for forward sliding parachute consisting of ribs extending downward from the surface portion shell and spaced in multiple span directions, wherein the upper surface portion is a plurality of long panels of continuous fabric. And a mounting means for interconnecting the panels at a connection junction extending laterally with respect to the ribs.
The parachute canopy of claim 1, wherein the ribs are mounted to the panels in a relationship intersecting the connection joints between the panels.
3. The continuous of claim 2 wherein the canopy has a bottom surface portion that is separated from the top surface portion by the ribs, the bottom surface portion being continuous to each other along a connecting junction extending laterally to the ribs. A parachute canopy formed of a plurality of long panels of fabric, the long side portions of which one of the panels joined to each of the top and bottom surface portions form a leading edge opening opening into the airflow channel.
2. The parachute canopy of claim 1, wherein each of said panels is made of a continuous single piece of flexible material having lateral sides substantially equal to the canopy in the span direction where the joints are located.
5. The parachute canopy of claim 4 wherein the outer eofoil surface portion of the canopy includes an upper shell plate with ribs mounted thereon.
7. The air flow expansion channels of claim 6 wherein the outer airfoil surface portion further comprises a bottom sheet with ribs mounted, and one of the panels associated with each of the top shell and the bottom sheet comprises airflow expansion channels formed between the ribs. A parachute canopy with non-attached sides separated from each other at the front of the canopy to form an open inlet.
