본 고안은 종래의 버니어 캘리퍼스(Vernier calipers)로는 측정이 불가능하던 특이하게 생긴 물체의 길이 측정을 가능하게 고안한 것이다. 종래의 버니어 켈리퍼스는 본척(本尺)과 부척(副尺)으로 구성되며 조오(Jaw)와 부리 및 뎁스바(Depth Bar)가 부착되어 길이의 측정 및 물건의 무게와 구의 외경 및 구멍의 깊이와 내경등을 측정하였으나 크랭크(Crank)축과 같이 직선상에 위치하지 않고 평행한 두축의 거리를 측정할 수 없는 결점이 있었다.The present invention is designed to measure the length of an unusually shaped object that was impossible to measure with conventional Vernier calipers.
