현재 도로변, 아파트 단지 내, 건물 주변 등의 하수로에 설치된 빗물유입통로인 하수구(drain grate)는 담배꽁초나 낙엽 등 이 물질들의 유입을 막지 못하여 하수로가 막혀 비가 올 때 빗물을 원활히 배출시키지 못 하고 또 평소에 하수로부터 발생하는 악취를 그대로 발산하는 문제를 안고 있다. 하수구에서 발생하는 악취가 밖으로 발산하는 것을 막아주는 보조장치인 악취차단기(200)은 몸통지지골격(240)에 얇은 막으로 악취차단기몸통(250)을 형성시킨다. 이 몸통부(250)는 하수구몸통홈(110) 속에 잘 삽입되도록 위쪽은 넓고 아래쪽은 좁아지는 즉 중앙 안쪽으로 기울기를 가지며 상단에는 하수구덮개받임턱(130)에 얹히고 하수구덮개(140)에 눌려 고정역할을 하는 악취차단기솔기(210)와 연결되어 있다. 몸통(250) 아래 쪽에는 축(221)으로 몸통지지골격(240)에 결합된 평소 닫혀있어 밑에서 올라오는 냄새는 막아주고, 위에서 빗물이 내려오면 빗물의 무게로 열려 빗물을 밑으로 흘려 보내는 한 쌍의 악취차단기밸브(220)가 구비되어 있다. 밸브(220)는 회전하는 악취차단밸브축(221)로 몸통(200)과 결합되고, 이 축(221)을 중심으로 한 쪽 하단에 악취차단기밸브무게추(222)를 달고 축이 중앙이 아닌 추쪽으로 당겨 위치시킴으로써, 축을 중심으로 무게는 추가 있는 쪽이 더 나가고 면적은 대칭쪽이 더 넓어 평소에 무게추(221) 쪽이 밑으로 내려가려 하여 밸브스탑중앙바(232)에, 대칭쪽은 위로 올라가려 하여 밸브스탑사방돌기(231)과 밀착되어 밀폐를 유지한다. 빗물은 하수구몸통홈(110)의 벽을 타고 내려 올 것이고, 많은 비가 올 때 빗물은 사방에서 밀려 벽 뿐만 아니라 폭포수와 같이 중앙부로도 떨어질 것이다. 빗물의 원활한 유입을 위하여 중앙 쪽이 오름 회전하고 벽쪽이 내림 회전을 하게 한 쌍의 밸브를 배치했으며 또 중앙 쪽은 높고 벽 쪽은 낮게 즉 기울기를 주었다.The
낙엽거름바구니(300)는 악취차단기몸통(200)에 쏙 들어가도록 위쪽은 넓고 아래쪽은 좁게 되어 있고, 걸림쇠(320)가 걸림쇠수용홈(242)에 끼워져 고정되어 하수구덮개(140)와 악취차단기밸브(220) 위치하게 된다. 바닥면과 몸통면에 빗물이 빠지도록 다수의 물빠짐혈(330)이 형성되어 있으며, 밑면에는 젖은 낙엽이 착 달라붙어 배수를 방해하는 것을 막기 위해 다수의 낙엽밀착방지돌기(340)을 형성시킨다. 빗물이 유입되면 빗물의 무게로 밸브무게추(222)쪽이 회전하며 올라 오므로 이를 수용할 중앙밸브수용부(310)을 형성시키고 이 상단에 바구리를 들어 올릴 수 있도록 손잡이홈(311)을 형성시킨다. 이 바구니는 빗물은 밑으로 통과 시키고 꽁초나 낙엽 등 고형물은 걸러낼 것이다. 바구니가 차면 손잡이를 잡고 들어 올려 비우고 다시 내려 놓는다.
