최근 반려동물과 생활하는 가정이 확대되면서 애완견에 대한 관심이 대두되고 애완견 대·소변에 대한 처리 및 악취 등 문제점이 부각되고 있다. 현재 사용 중인 애완견 배변패드 (종이 기저귀) 문제점은 주기적인 폐기물 발생(생활 쓰레기)과 많은 비용지출 등 개선을 요하는 상황이다. 이로써 쾌적한 생활환경이 유지되는 못하는 경우가 많다.
