Abstract
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for cleaning a membrane wherein, more specifically, a membrane evaporation scheme is performed by receiving raw water and bubbles which have total dissolved solids (TDS) of 58,000 mg/L or greater at the same time, and a spraying period of the bubbles is determined by performing calculation in accordance with a contamination index (FI) of a membrane of a mathematic formula 1 below, and desalination of seawater by the membrane evaporation scheme is performed, and, at the same time, the evaporation membrane is cleaned. Accordingly, contaminants are prevented from being attached to a surface of the membrane and attachment of the contaminants to the surface of the membrane is delayed. Consequently, effects such as extension of a service life of a separation membrane, an increase of quality of processed water, maintenance of a stable amount of water production and water quality, and reduction of an amount of use of chemicals can be expected. [mathematic formula 1] FI(%)=[(Q0-Qt)/Q0]×100 (In the formula, FI is a membrane contamination index, and Q0 is a production amount during the first one hour after initiation of filtration, and Qt is a production amount during one hour at present.)
