Description
The present invention relates to a curved display device, and more particularly to a curved display device capable of preventing a de-lamination phenomenon of an adhesive layer and capable of maintaining a bending shape.
Recently, the display field has been rapidly developed as the information age approaches. Recently, a curved display device has been developed as a next-generation display device which improves immersion and provides realistic images to provide a user with comfort. In addition, research on an edge curved display device capable of squeezing an image on both the front and side surfaces has been actively conducted.
However, since the curved display device uses plastic as a base substrate due to its characteristics, it has a weak function of firmly supporting the display device, and is vulnerable to defects when an external force or the like is applied to the product. A technique of attaching a back plate to the back surface has been developed.
In order to facilitate the bending process, a base film divided into a large portion and a small portion is provided as a back plate of a curved display device.
Referring to FIG. 1, the
As the demand for thinning of the display device gradually increased, a cover glass (Deep Cavity Coverglass) having a groove was attached to the display panel.
FIG. 2 is a view showing a state in which an adhesive layer is lifted at a curved surface portion of a conventional display device, and FIG. 3 is a view showing a state where a bubble is generated in a curved portion of a conventional display device. 3, when the COF (Chip On Film) 10 of the
FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing a bending failure phenomenon of a conventional curved display device. Referring to FIG. 4, in a conventional curved display device, a steel alloy (11), the bending shape was stably maintained. However, in order to reduce the thickness of the display device, it is difficult to maintain the shape of the display device because the banding radius is reduced and the
An object of the present invention is to provide a curved display device capable of preventing a de-lamination phenomenon of an adhesive layer during a bonding process and capable of maintaining a bending shape.
The curved display device of the present invention includes a display panel and a back plate attached to the inside of the curved surface of the display panel, and the back plate has an opening which is spaced apart from the edge of the back plate and located inward.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the back plate may be bent along the display panel. In this case, a foam tape may further be provided along the inside of the curved back plate.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the back plate may have a wing portion in a part of the area where the back panel is attached to the display panel.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the opening may be located at a bent portion of the back plate.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, the display panel may further include a cover glass to which the display panel is adhered via the adhesive layer from outside.
The curved display device of the present invention reduces the repulsive force applied to the adhesive layer to prevent lifting of the adhesive layer. This improves the haze phenomenon and the screen distortion phenomenon, and increases the efficiency of the attaching process.
In addition, since the curved shape display device of the present invention maintains the bending shape even after the bending process, the bending radius of the curved display device can be reduced and the banding radius can be stably maintained.

In the description of the embodiments, it is described that each layer, film, electrode, plate or substrate, etc. is formed "on" or "under" of each layer, film, electrode, In this case, "on" and "under " all include being formed either directly or indirectly through another element.
In addition, the criteria for the top, side, or bottom of each component are described with reference to the drawings. The size of each component in the drawings may be exaggerated for the sake of explanation and does not mean the size actually applied.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The display panel according to the present invention is included in a curved display device, and the display panel has a curved shape.
Here, the display panel may be a liquid crystal display device (LCD), a plasma display panel (PDP), a field emission display (FED), an electroluminescence display device : ELD), organic light emitting diodes (OLED), and the like, and the type thereof is not particularly limited as long as it does not depart from the object of the present invention.
However, it is preferable that the OLED is capable of maintaining the display performance even if it is bent by the display panel of the present invention.
This is because OLEDs can be lightweight and thin because they do not require a backlight used in a liquid crystal display, which is a non-light emitting element, as a self-luminous element. In addition, it has a better viewing angle and contrast ratio than liquid crystal display devices, is advantageous in terms of power consumption, can be driven by DC low voltage, has a quick response speed, and is resistant to external impacts and has a wide temperature range. In addition, since the manufacturing process is simple, there is an advantage that the production cost can be reduced more than the conventional liquid crystal display device.
Specifically, the OLED panel may include a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate, and the first and second substrates may be bonded to each other through a protective layer having adhesiveness.
In more detail, a driving thin film transistor is formed for each pixel region on the first substrate, a first electrode connected to each driving thin film transistor, an organic light emitting layer for emitting light of a specific color on the first electrode, , And a second electrode may be formed on the organic light emitting layer.
The organic light emitting layer displays red, green, and blue colors. As a general method, a separate organic material emitting red, green, and blue light is patterned for each pixel.
The first and second electrodes and the organic light emitting layer formed therebetween form a light emitting diode. In this case, the OLED panel having such a structure has the first electrode as an anode and the second electrode as a cathode.
The OLED panel may further include a printed circuit board for supplying driving signals and a flexible circuit board for connecting the OLED panel and the printed circuit board, and may further include a polarization member for suppressing reflection of external light.
Meanwhile, in order to protect the display panel as described above, a cover glass may be provided on one side of the display panel, more specifically, outside the curved side of the display panel, and the cover glass may also be provided on the curved display device It may be in the form of a curved surface having both side edges such as a display panel.
The cover glass is attached to the display panel via an adhesive layer. A specific example of the adhesive layer is a double-sided adhesive tape, more specifically, OCA (Optical Clean Adhesive).
When the display panel according to the present invention is attached to the cover glass by the adhesive layer, the length of the panel of the display arranged in a plane than the length of the display panel disposed on the curved surface of the cover glass may be longer.
The cover glass may be made of a transparent material such as glass or plastic.
In addition, the size of the display panel may be different from the size of the cover glass.
5 is a view of a back plate according to an embodiment of the present invention, and will be described with reference to FIG.
In the process of attaching the
The back plate according to the present invention is attached to the inside of the curved surface of the display panel. That is, the back plate is provided along the curved inner surface of the display panel.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the back plate may be curved along the display panel. In this case, the back plate and the display panel may be more tightly adhered to each other, The support function can be improved.
The back plate may be a bent type, and the back plate may be made of a soft resin. The soft resin may be polyethylene terephthalate (PET), for example. However, The present invention is not necessarily limited thereto.
6 is a diagram illustrating a bending state of a back plate according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 6, the
As described above, conventionally, the base film is attached to the display panel in a state of being divided into a large portion (7 in Fig. 2) and a small portion (8 in Fig. 2) for reducing the repulsive force in the bending process. The
However, even though the COF of the display panel is in contact with the cover glass or the
FIG. 7 is a schematic view showing an improvement in lifting of an adhesive layer according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG.
7, even when the
The openings according to the present invention are located inside the
Accordingly, even when the
In addition, since the restoring force can be dispersed after the bending, the bending radius can be stably maintained because the bending shape can be firmly held and the degree of increase in the bending area thickness can be reduced.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the opening may be located at a bent portion of the
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the opening may be located at a bent portion of the
The size of the opening portion is not particularly limited as long as it does not deviate from the object of the present invention. However, the size of the opening portion should be within the range of the
The shape of the opening is not particularly limited as long as it does not deviate from the object of the present invention. For example, it may be circular, elliptical, triangular, square, pentagonal or the like. However, it is preferable that the opening has at least one of a circular shape and an elliptical shape in order to effectively disperse the repulsive force in the attaching process.
