Abstract

A flexible resealable label for covering the dispensing opening includes a polymer sheet having a flap portion and a base. The flap portion has a hinge side and a raised side. There are various storage and dispensing containers on the market, especially containers for storing and dispensing wipe-type products. Towel-shaped articles or towels have been made from a variety of materials, which can be dry or wet during use. The wet wipe may be wet with a variety of suitable wiping solutions. Typically, the towel is stacked in a container in a folded or ungrounded configuration. These towels were used in baby towels, hand towels, personal hygiene towels, household cleaning towels, and industrial towels.

Conventional towel packing containers are typically designed to be positioned on a plane such as a countertop, a table, or the like. Such conventional packaging containers often include plastic containers, vats, or packaging containers that provide a hermetically sealed environment to ensure that the towel is not dirty or excessively dry. Frequently, the packaging container of the towel includes a dispensing opening, through which the towel can be pulled from an otherwise sealed environment. The dispensing opening is typically covered by a lid or flap that can be repeatedly opened and closed - opened to dispense the towel, and closed to keep the towel clean and moist.

Ideally, when such a lid or flap is opened, the lid or flap is open without external force applied. This is because, when the lid or flap is opened by itself, the user can more easily dispense a series of individual towels with one hand after the lid or flap is opened. This one hand dispensing at a time by one hand is particularly desirable since the rest of the user or caregiver hand must normally be used simultaneously for other functions. It is known to use flexible "peel & seal" label flaps on a towel dispensing container to cover the dispensing opening. However, conventional "peel and seal" flap designs have proven to be complicated or expensive, e.g., requiring layers of a plurality of materials, or are not adequately opened and maintained in the absence of external force . As a result, there is a need in the art for a "peel and seal" label flap that provides a simple configuration and remains better open during dispensing of towels to aid in improved one hand operation.

In one aspect, the present invention is directed to an improved flexible resealable label configured to cover a distribution opening in a packaging container. In another aspect, the present invention relates to a packaging container using such a label. In one embodiment, the label includes a polymer sheet having a length extending in length dimension, a width extending in width dimension, a thickness, a bottom surface, and a top surface. The polymer sheet has a flap portion and a base portion, the flap portion and the base occupying the same plane when the flap portion is in the closed position. The base and flap portions are configured to be at least partially attached to the packaging container. The flap portion has a hinge side and a raised side opposite the hinge side along the length dimension. The hinge side is connected to the base along the hinge so that the flap portion can be pivotally moved relative to the base at the hinge about the rotational axis to have an open position. The rising side includes a start tab. The hinges are formed by straight intermittent cuts extending along the width dimension. Each cutout of the straight cutouts extends over the entire thickness of the sheet. The intermittent cuts of the straight line are in the rotational axis of the hinge.

In another embodiment, the label includes a polymer sheet having a length extending in length dimension, a width extending in width dimension, a thickness, a bottom surface, and a top surface. Each cutout of the straight cutouts extends over the entire thickness of the sheet. The connecting strip portion includes at least two connecting strips. Referring to the embodiment of Figures 1A and 1B, the present invention relates to one aspect of a packaging container having a resealable label. Referring to Figures 1 to 7, the present invention relates to another aspect of the resealable label. The resiliently resealable label 20 is configured to cover the dispensing opening 12 in the packaging container 10. The packaging container may include a towel or towel-shaped material that can be suitably dispensed through the dispensing opening 12, such as a laminate or roll of a baby towel, a wet towel, a cleaning towel, a facial towel, and the like. The label 20 may be constructed of any suitable material that provides a suitable amount of bending stiffness, which is suitable for allowing the hinge to function, for example, as described below. In one example, the label 20 is comprised of a polyolefin material such as polypropylene or polyethylene. As used herein, "resealable" means that it can be attached to the packaging container 10 and can be at least partially peeled off from the packaging container 10 and then reattached to the packaging container 10 . It is known in the art to use resealable and resealable adhesives to bond polymeric materials.

The label 20 comprises a polymer sheet 22. The base 60 and the flap portion 40 are configured to be at least partially attached to the packaging container 10. In one example, both the base 60 and the flap portion 40 are configured to releasably attach to the packaging container 10. In another example, the base 60 is configured to be permanently attached to the packaging container 10, and the flap portion 40 is configured to releasably attach to the packaging container 10. In one embodiment of the packaging container embodiment of the present invention, both the flap portion 40 and the base portion 60 of the label 20 are releasably attached to the packaging container 10. Referring to FIG. 2C, in a particular embodiment, adhesive 62 at least partially covers the lower surface 30 of the polymer sheet. Adhesive 62 is configured to attach the polymer sheet as just described to a flexible packaging container of a polymer, such as a flexible packaging container of a towel for infant diaper filling or bowel work.

The flap portion 40 has a hinge side 46 and a raised side 48 opposite the hinge side 46 along the length dimension 25. In certain embodiments, such as the one shown in Figs. 1A and 1B and Figs. 3A-3E, a line segment of the intermittent cutout 54 is present in the rotational axis 52 of the hinge 50.
