BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a navigation search method and system for quickly and conveniently searching for a destination within a search area designated by a user on a map displayed by the navigation.

Navigation is a system that provides information for driving a transportation device such as a vehicle using a satellite and is also called an automatic navigation system.

The navigation may include a global positioning system (GPS) receiver to receive GPS data from a GPS satellite that rotates out of the atmosphere along the earth, and calculate a location of a driving vehicle or the like based on the received GPS data.

In addition, the navigation device includes a memory for storing map data, and provides various services to the user of the vehicle using the map data stored in the memory. For example, the map data may be used to inform the user of the current location of the vehicle, calculate an optimal route to a desired destination, and provide information such as driving the vehicle along the calculated route.

Such a navigation system stores a point of interest (POI) representing local information, buildings, and road information on a map together with map data, and uses the map data and facility information as information for route guidance. In order to set a destination for the setting, a route search menu is used, and a search method for the route search includes an address search, a name search, a neighbor search, and a road name search method.

The address search is a method of searching for a location by an address corresponding to a destination, and the name search is a method of searching for a location by a name corresponding to a destination.
