Abstract

An aqueous paint thickener composition and an aqueous paint composition comprising the same are disclosed. The disclosed aqueous paint thickener compositions include hydroxyalkylalkylcelluloses.

Description

Thickening agent composition for water soluble paint and water soluble paint composition including the same}

An aqueous paint thickener composition and an aqueous paint composition comprising the same are disclosed. More specifically, an aqueous paint thickener composition comprising hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose and an aqueous paint composition comprising the same are disclosed.

Aqueous paint thickeners carry the aqueous paint composition using dispersibility of the solid particles in the manufacture of the aqueous paint composition, its storage stability after preparation of the aqueous paint composition, and in the field using an applicator such as a spray, roller or brush. It is used to obtain workability required when applying to be coated.

Conventionally, by using an aqueous paint composition to which hydroxyalkyl cellulose, an emulsion type alkali thickener and / or urethane thickener, and the like have been added, sufficient thickening power has been provided for all stages of the production and application of the aqueous paint composition.

However, in the case of applying the water-based paint composition to a material having high water absorption power, the water remaining in the coating film moves quickly to the substrate immediately after the application, so that the roller marks at the overlapping areas of the first and later applied areas. This marks become apparent. In addition, the gloss agent (eg, acrylic emulsion) moves rapidly from the coating film to the body together with water, and the loss of glossiness becomes severe on the surface of the coating film. Smears are observed when viewing the sides. Therefore, the appearance state of the finally finished coating film is often seen to be poor.

Korean Laid-Open Patent No. 193-0013054 relates to an aqueous thickener composition for improving rheology of aqueous latex paints and the like. Since the emulsion type alkali thickener disclosed in the above patent is hardly water-retaining in itself, in the case of a coating film formed by applying an aqueous paint composition containing the composition to an absorbent substrate, the movement speed of water from the coating film to the substrate is high, resulting in poor appearance. There is a problem that occurs.

On the other hand, when the coating film is formed on the absorbent substrate by using the water-based paint composition containing a urethane-based thickener, the smoothness of the coating film is improved, but there is a problem in that poor appearance of the urethane-based thickener causes low water retention.

One embodiment of the present invention provides an aqueous paint thickener composition comprising hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose.

Another embodiment of the present invention provides an aqueous paint composition comprising the aqueous paint thickener composition.

According to an aspect of the present invention,

An aqueous paint thickener composition comprising hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose is provided.

The hydroxyalkyl alkyl cellulose may have an alkyl group substitution degree (DS) of 1.2 to 2.0 and a hydroxyalkyl group substitution degree (MS) of more than 0 and 1.0 or less.

The viscosity of the 2% by weight aqueous solution of the hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose measured at 20 ° C. and 20 rpm with a Brookfield viscometer may be 25,000 to 30,000 cps.

The hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose may include at least one of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose and hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose.

The aqueous paint thickener composition may further include at least one selected from the group consisting of an emulsion type alkali thickener, a urethane-based thickener, and hydroxyalkyl cellulose.

The aqueous paint thickener composition may comprise 20 to 100% by weight of the hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose.

Another aspect of the invention,

It provides an aqueous paint composition comprising the aqueous paint thickener composition.

The aqueous paint composition may include the aqueous paint thickener composition in a ratio of 0.01 to 1% by weight.

An aqueous paint thickener composition and an aqueous paint composition including the same according to an embodiment of the present invention may exhibit the following effects.

First, it is possible to maintain the glossiness and strength of the coating film surface by reducing the amount of the polishing agent moving from the surface of the coating film to the substrate together with the water by retarding the speed at which the water in the paint coating moves to the substrate.

Second, even when used in a non-uniform absorbent power due to the high water holding capacity, it is possible to reduce the difference in gloss of each part on the surface of the coating film.

Third, since the coating film formed during the paint coating operation can reduce the amount of water taken away by the substrate, a large amount of water can be preserved, thereby forming a coating film having a uniform appearance by reducing application marks at the overlapping portions of the first and later applied portions. can do.

Fourth, even when the coating film is formed using the aqueous paint composition containing the pigment, it is possible to reduce the change in the content of the pigment in the coating film due to the pigment migration to the substrate to obtain a coating film of uniform color.

Hereinafter will be described in detail an aqueous paint thickener composition and an aqueous paint composition comprising the same according to an embodiment of the present invention.

The aqueous paint thickener composition comprises hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose.

The hydroxyalkyl alkyl cellulose may have an alkyl group substitution degree (DS) of 1.2 to 2.0 and a hydroxyalkyl group substitution degree (MS) of more than 0 and 1.0 or less. When the degree of substitution (DS and MS) is each within the range, the hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose may have high viscosity and water retention. Accordingly, the hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose can be used to prepare an aqueous paint thickener composition having high viscosity and water retention.

The hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose may include at least one of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose and hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose. In the case of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, the methyl group substitution degree (DS) and the hydroxypropyl group substitution degree (MS) may be calculated by Equations 1 and 2, respectively.

The aqueous paint thickener composition may comprise 20 to 100% by weight of the hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose. When the content ratio of the hydroxyalkyl alkyl cellulose is within the above range, an aqueous paint thickener composition having high viscosity and water retention can be obtained.

The aqueous paint composition may include the aqueous paint thickener composition in a ratio of 0.01 to 1% by weight. When the content ratio of the aqueous paint thickener composition is within the above range, an aqueous paint composition having high viscosity and water retention can be obtained.

The aqueous paint composition may further comprise pigments, resins, other additives, organic solvents and water. The pigments, resins, other additives and organic solvents may be conventionally used in the preparation of the aqueous paint composition. For example, the other additives may include adhesion promoters, dispersants, surfactants, antifoams, preservatives, pH adjusters, stabilizers or combinations thereof.

On the other hand, the aqueous paint composition may be applied to a substrate and then dried to form a coating film.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.

Evaluation example

The water retention, glossiness, and roller marks of the aqueous pate compositions prepared in Examples 2-1 to 2-2 and Comparative Examples 2-2 to 1-3 were evaluated by the following methods, and the results are shown in Table 2 below. Indicated.

(Evaluation of conservatism)

One sheet of 5A filter paper (manufactured by Toyo Roshi Kaisha, Ltd) was placed on a glass plate, and then a ring (diameter 100 mm, height 3 mm) was placed on the filter paper, and the respective aqueous paint compositions were filled in the ring. Subsequently, after 30 minutes, the maximum diameter at which water was absorbed and spread in the filter paper was measured, and the water retainability of each of the above water-based paint compositions was evaluated by the following equation (3).

&Quot; (3) "

Water retention (%) = (1- (maximum diameter of wetted part of filter paper in mm after 100 minutes (mm) -100) / 100) * 100

(Evaluation of glossiness)

Each of the above water paint compositions was applied onto absorbent substrates (slate bottoms, wall acid slate products) and non-absorbent substrates (glass) using an aqueous roller (article brush product). Subsequently, each resultant was dried at 23 ° C. for 1 day, and then glossiness was measured at 60 ° using a gloss meter (Tri-GLOSS MASTER from Sheen Instruments Limited) at the top of the coating film.

(Evaluation of roller marks)

Each of the water-based paint composition is applied on the absorbent material (slate bottom, wall acid slate product) and the non-absorbent material (glass) by using an aqueous roller (artificial brush product), respectively, in the overlapping part of the first applied part and the later applied part. The number of roller marks produced was checked.

Referring to Table 2, when applied to the absorbent substrate, the water-based paint compositions prepared in Examples 2-1 to 2-2 are water-retaining and glossy compared to the water-based paint compositions prepared in Comparative Examples 2-1 to 2-3. It was found that the degree was high and the number of roller marks was small. In addition, when applied to the non-absorbent substrate, the water-based paint composition prepared in Examples 2-1 to 2-2 was found to have a higher water retention than the water-based paint composition prepared in Comparative Examples 2-1 to 2-3.

Although the present invention has been described with reference to the examples, these are merely exemplary, and those skilled in the art will understand that various modifications and equivalent other embodiments are possible therefrom. Accordingly, the true scope of the present invention should be determined by the technical idea of the appended claims.
