Abstract

PURPOSE: A sensor for detecting obstacles around a brake pedal is provided to enable a driver to remove obstacles when the obstacles under a brake pedal are sensed by emitting light and warning sounds. CONSTITUTION: A sensor(B) for detecting obstacles around a brake pedal is attached on a brake pedal(A). A light(C) is installed in a dashboard and is lightened when the sensor senses obstacles under the brake pedal. A warning sound emitting apparatus is installed and emits warning sounds when the sensor senses the obstacles. A lamp(D) is installed near the brake pedal and is lightened when the obstacles are sensed.

When braking or driving downhill, things inside the vehicle (beverage bottles, cosmetics, toys, etc.) are leaned forward. When an obstacle is detected under the pedal, the warning light on the instrument panel lights up and a warning sound informs the driver of the situation.

The obstacle measuring distance of this sensor is taken as the sensor travel distance (x) when the brake pedal is in the initial state and the maximum stepped.
