Abstract

A vehicle lighting system comprising hazard warning lights E and indicator lights D where the hazard warning light system is electronically isolated from the indicator light system, allowing a turn signal to be given when the hazard warning lights are activated. The hazard warning lights are red in colour and the indicator lights are amber.

Description

DESCRIPTION
The present day operation of the hazard warning lights system incorporated in travelling vehicles, on every road, presents a significant safety hazard.
The problem is when there is a real emergency, a driver of a vehicle will put on the hazard warning lights but in doing so the driver eliminates the indicator function preventing the driver from indicating which way he would go (ie to the left or right) to avoid a major traffic accident.
To eliminate this problem the answer is to isolate the hazard warning light system electronically away from the indicating system, so that both systems can operate independently to enable the hazard warning lights to function whilst the driver can indicate in which direction he intends to go, therefore giving the other vehicle drivers advanced warning of his change in direction, so that they can take avoiding action.
To make a higher visual awareness of the hazard warning lights to other drivers, the hazard warning lights will be changed to the colour red that emits an intensity and a quality of light that is equal to the existing amber hazard warning lights on vehicles on the road today, in no way will the red hazard warning lights be confused with the existing red brake lights or red rear lights because the red hazard warning lights will be flashing constantly when in use.
