Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector, and more particularly, to a connector and a connector assembly including the same in which a pair of connectors are coupled to each other to perform electrical connection of wires.
In general, the connector is composed of a connector housing and a terminal, and is widely used in power circuits such as washing machines, refrigerators, or automobiles. The use of the connector in these electrical and electronic devices can assemble a plurality of parts separately and then insert them into the final product, which has the advantage of greatly simplifying maintenance work as well as device manufacturing.
In this case, the connectors are electrically connected to each other by being coupled with the mating connector. More specifically, as the two connectors are coupled, the terminal provided in the connector housing and the mating terminal provided in the mating connector housing are in contact with each other to be electrically connected. That is, the connector is electrically connected or released as it is detached from the mating connector.
However, the prior art as described above has the following problems.
The terminal remains exposed until the connector is engaged with the mating connector. This is to facilitate the coupling with the mating terminal in the process of mating the mating connector.
However, if the terminal is kept exposed to the outside in this way, there is a problem that the terminal is easily damaged during the storage or transport process. That is, in the state in which the terminal is exposed, another external object, for example, another terminal or an electric wire may collide with the terminal to act as an external force. In this case, there is a problem in that the terminal is damaged or bent, making it difficult to couple with the mating connector.
In addition, when the terminal remains exposed to the outside, foreign matter such as dust may be inserted into the connector housing. In this case, there is a problem that the electrical connection between the terminal and the relative terminal is not made correctly. That is, if two connectors are coupled in a state in which foreign matter is inserted into the connector housing, the connection between the two terminals may be incomplete.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve the problems described above, and to provide a connector and a connector assembly including the same with minimized exposure of the terminal.
In addition, another object of the present invention is to adjust the exposure state of the terminal according to the coupling state of the connector and the mating connector.
According to a feature of the present invention for achieving the above object, a connector housing to form an appearance and a skeleton, the movable slot is formed on a part of the outer surface; And a terminal coupling part inserted into an inner space of the connector housing and moving along the moving slot in the inner space, wherein the inside of the connector housing is partitioned into a moving space and a coupling space by a protective plate. The protective plate is formed with at least one through hole to selectively penetrate the terminal coupled to the terminal coupling portion.
The terminal coupling portion, the hooking jaw guided by the movable slot is formed on the outer surface, the inclined surface is inclined downward in the insertion direction on the hooking jaw.
At least one locking protrusion is formed to protrude in a direction facing each other on the inner surface of the movable slot to selectively hang the hooking jaw.
The protective plate is formed at a front end portion based on the movable slot such that the terminal is exposed or unexposed as the terminal coupling portion is reciprocated along the movable slot.
The movement space is a space in which the terminal coupling portion is inserted and moved along the movement slot, and the coupling space is a space in which a part of the mating connector is inserted to be electrically coupled with the terminal.
According to another feature of the invention, the present invention is the connector; And a mating connector electrically coupled to the connector, wherein the mating connector is elastically deformable and has a mating lever formed at a position corresponding to the hanging jaw; A coupling slot formed through the center of the coupling lever and hooked to the hook jaw; And a release portion extending from the front end of the coupling lever and bent upwardly inclined.
According to the connector assembly of the present invention having such a configuration, when the hanger jaw of the terminal coupling portion is guided to the moving slot of the connector housing, the terminal coupling portion can move in the connector housing. If this connector is not coupled with the mating connector, the terminal coupling portion is moved backward to minimize the exposure of the terminal by the protection plate. On the other hand, when the connector is engaged with the mating connector, the terminal coupling portion is moved forward to sufficiently expose the terminal through the through hole of the protective plate.
Therefore, even when the connector is not coupled with the mating connector, the exposure of the terminal can be minimized to prevent foreign substances such as dust from being inserted, and the terminal can be prevented from being damaged or bent by an external force.
Hereinafter, with reference to the accompanying drawings, a preferred embodiment of the connector and a connector assembly including the same according to the present invention as described above will be described in more detail.
