Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a data reproducing method and a reproducing apparatus of an optical disc for managing a defect of an optical disc.
In the optical disk, there may be a physical defect caused by scratching or the like, and thus a still or hold phenomenon of an image screen may occur when the optical disk is reproduced. Since data is recorded / reproduced in sectors and blocks in a disc such as a CD, a DVD, and a BD, a defective area must also be managed in sectors or blocks in a plurality of sectors. In order to manage such a defective area, a defect list having information on the defective area and a replacement area replacing the defective area is recorded in the lead-in area and the lead-out area of the optical disc. The optical disk driver manages defects by reading a defect list recorded on the disc at disc loading so that the defect area is not included in recording / reproducing or updating the defect list to include the additionally found defect area.

If the data requested by the host is stream data, the method further includes setting the number of retry attempts to repeatedly read the stream data to a value smaller than a preset retry reference number.
If there is a defect in the stream data, the method may further include retrying within a range in which the number of retries does not exceed the set value.
In addition, when it is determined that there is a defect in the stream data and the reproduction error, the stream data may be changed to null data or error data and transmitted to the host.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus for reproducing an optical disc, including: an optical pickup for detecting a data signal by irradiating light onto the optical disc; and analyzing whether a file system in the optical disc is present. 1 is a schematic flowchart of a data reproduction method of an optical disc according to an embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 1, information about an area where stream data exists in an optical disc is generated and stored (S100), and when it is determined that there is a defect in the stream data during playback, the stream data is changed to a certain type of data. To transmit to the host (S200). In particular, in the case of the present invention, the step S100 may be performed not only by the application in the PC, but also by the optical disc drive itself. Operation S100 will be described later with reference to FIG. 2 and operation S200 will be described later with reference to FIG. 4.
FIG. 2 is a flowchart illustrating an example of a process of generating and storing information about an area where stream data in an optical disc exists (S100).
(S130). As shown in FIG. 2, when the optical disc is loaded (S110), it is determined whether the file system used for the optical disc meets the standard (S120). For example, it is determined whether a DVD or a BD corresponds to a UDF, and a CD corresponds to an ISO9660. If the file system conforms to the standard, the file system in the optical disk is analyzed to determine whether stream data exists in the optical disk (S130).
File system analysis can be done via extension of data files present on the optical disc. As shown in Fig. 3, a stream data file and a general data file are mixed in the optical disk. If the extension names of the data files existing on the optical disc relate to video and audio information such as MPEG, MP3, AVI, and DIVX, it can be determined that the stream data exists. On the other hand, if there is a file having an extension name except stream data files such as TXT and DAT, it may be determined as a general data file.
If it is determined that the stream data exists in the optical disc (S140), information about an area in the optical disc in which the stream data exists is stored (S150). For example, address list information of a corresponding area where stream data exists in an optical disk may be generated and then stored. If it is determined that no stream data exists in the optical disc, file system analysis is terminated.
4 is a flowchart illustrating a process (S200) of changing stream data into data of a predetermined form and transmitting the same to a host.
As shown in FIG. 4, after receiving a data transmission request from the host (S210), information about an area in which the stream data in the optical disk, which is stored in the optical disk, exists, is read (S220). If information about the area is stored in the form of an address list, the address can be read. It is determined whether the data requested by the host is stream data by reading information on the corresponding area (S230). That is, it is possible to determine whether the data requested by the host is stream data by determining whether an address section in the optical disk requested by the host exists in the stored address list.
If the data requested by the host is the stream data, the number of retry attempts to repeatedly read the stream data is set to a value smaller than the preset retry reference number (S240). The number of retries is set in advance before the host is notified of a defect in the optical disc because the optical disc is defective. In particular, in the case of stream data, the number of retries is set to a value smaller than the reference number.
In the case of stream data, an incomplete image can be displayed to the user in the form of a screen break or a mosaic even if the data cannot be read due to a defect of the optical disc. Therefore, even if the specific data cannot be read, it does not interfere with the reproduction of the entire data. Therefore, in case of the stream data file, the number of retries does not need to be set as high as that of normal data file reproduction.
Subsequently, a defect exists in the optical disc, and it is determined whether data requested by the host can be reproduced (S250). If data reproduction is possible, the host transmits the requested data to the host (S280). If a defect exists, a retry is performed to reproduce the part of the stream data in which the defect exists. It is determined whether the number of retries exceeds the set value (S260). If the number of retries is not exceeded, retries continue within the range not exceeding.
(S270).If the number of retries exceeds the set value, it can be judged that it is difficult to play the part of the stream data even after retries. In this case, the data requested by the host may be null data or error data. Change to a predetermined form of data and transmit it to the host (S270).
When the data requested by the host corresponds to general data instead of stream data in step S230, unlike the stream data, the number of retries is set to a value larger than the preset reference number (S340). In the case of general data, if the playback device cannot read the specific data due to a defect of the optical disk, it may interfere with reading the next data, so it tries to read the specific data repeatedly by reading or changing the speed. Therefore, the number of retries is set to a large value. In particular, the number of retries is set in advance before the optical disc is defective and the host is notified of the defective state.
Subsequently, a defect exists in the optical disc, and it is determined whether data requested by the host can be reproduced (S350). If data reproduction is possible, the host transmits the requested data to the host (S280). If a defect exists, a retry is performed to reproduce the part of the stream data in which the defect exists. If it is determined that the number of retries exceeds the set value (S360), the number of retries continues to be retried within the range not exceeding.
(S370).If the number of retries exceeds the set value, it may be determined that reproducing the corresponding stream data part is difficult even after retries. At this time, a reproduction error message is transmitted to the host and terminated (S370).
In the case of normal data, the number of retries in case of playback error is high. In case of an optical disc failure, the response speed to the host is slowed. Since the data is transmitted to the host, the response speed to the host is increased. In the case of stream data, in order to increase the response speed to the host, the number of retries can be set smaller than the reference value, and the speed change can be limited. By distinguishing such a stream data file and a general data file, when a defect occurs in an optical disc, there is a real advantage that the response speed is increased in a different manner in response to the host of the playback apparatus.
