Abstract

An apparatus for controlling data broadcasting contents by using voice recognition and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to easily access information data related to broadcasting contents and check the content of the information data conveniently even in a terminal with a small screen such as a portable terminal. An apparatus for controlling data broadcasting contents(10) comprises the following parts: a user voice input block(13); a voice processing block(14); a broadcasting signal input block(11); an information data determining block(15) which compares a text converted from a voice signal with an extracted information data index or caption data and transmits the output control signal of information data or caption data matched with the text; and a broadcasting stream processing block(12) which displays the information data or the caption data when the output control signal is received.
